Differential cross sections of the S-32(alpha, p(x))Cl-35(x = 0, 1, 2,
3) nuclear reactions were measured in the energy range between 6.0 an
d 12.0 MeV in steps of 10 to 50 keV for laboratory angles of 60 degree
s, 90 degrees, 120 degrees, 135 degrees, 157 degrees and 167 degrees u
sing thin sulphur targets. The targets were prepared by sulphur implan
tation into carbon with a fluence of 5.0 x 10(17) at./cm(2) and a maxi
mum concentration of about 1.5 x 10(17) at./cm(2) in a depth of 50 nm.
The location and concentration of the implanted sulphur were determin
ed by RBS. The differential cross sections at 167 degrees exhibit a st
eep maximum for the alpha-particle energy of 6.90 MeV. The reaction wa
s used to determine the concentration of sulphur in different material
s.
