Vpw. Shim et al., THE ELASTIC IMPACT RESPONSE OF GLASS EPOXY LAMINATED OGIVAL SHELLS/, International journal of impact engineering, 18(6), 1996, pp. 633-655
This study examines the elastic response of glass/epoxy laminated comp
osite ogival shells subjected to low velocity impact at an arbitrary l
ocation by a solid striker. An analytic solution for prediction of tra
nsient displacement and induced stress and strain is presented. This s
olution, which has not been obtained previously, considers both contac
t and transverse shear deformation. Based on this solution, the contac
t force and transient strains induced in a shell by impact are studied
. Impact experiments are also conducted on a simply-supported glass!ep
oxy ogival shell and the resulting strain responses examined. The resu
lts show that the contact force and strain response predicted using th
e present solution agree well with experimental measurements. Copyrigh
