Abstract
The effect of mutations in the vicinity of the putative electron trans fer path on the metal center of the electron transfer protein plastocy anin (spinacea) is investigated by monitoring the nuclear quadrupole i nteraction of Cd-111m in Cd-derivatives of the protein via time differ ential perturbed angular correlation. The spectra for the wild type pr otein and the mutants were rather similar. All spectra exhibit a pecul iar line profile which points towards a small scale intramolecular fle xibility of the metal center.
