By Cl-35 NQR the temperature dependences of the resonance frequencies
and spin-lattice relaxation times for the Cl-35 nuclei have been studi
ed in solid CCl(3)COHal (Hal=F, Cl, Br, I). A linear correlation betwe
en the average Cl-35 NQR frequencies of the CCl3 groups and the electr
onegativities of the halogen atoms in the COHal groups has been discov
ered. The temperature-dependent NQR data reveal thermoactivated reorie
ntations of the CCl(3)COHal molecules as a whole in the crystal lattic
e. The activation energies of this motion are found to lie in the rang
e 31-37 kJ mol(-1).
