H. Haraguchi et al., INHIBITION OF ALDOSE REDUCTASE BY DIHYDROFLAVONOLS IN ENGELHARDTIA-CHRYSOLEPIS AND EFFECTS ON OTHER ENZYMES, Experientia, 52(6), 1996, pp. 564-567
Astilbin and neoastilbin, dihydroflavonol rhamnosides from Engelhardti
a chrysolepis, showed potent inhibition of lens aldose reductase. Kine
tic analysis showed astilbin exhibited uncompetitive inhibition agains
t both dl-glyceraldehyde and NADPH. These taxifolin glycosides were se
lective inhibitors of aldose reductase with no inhibition of NADH oxid
ase.
