Abstract
Astilbin and neoastilbin, dihydroflavonol rhamnosides from Engelhardti a chrysolepis, showed potent inhibition of lens aldose reductase. Kine tic analysis showed astilbin exhibited uncompetitive inhibition agains t both dl-glyceraldehyde and NADPH. These taxifolin glycosides were se lective inhibitors of aldose reductase with no inhibition of NADH oxid ase.
