The anomalous contributions of dimensional regularization to the stati
c features of the W boson are investigated by using differential renor
malization in the proper-time representation. The magnetic (Delta K) a
nd quadrupole (Delta Q) moments of the W boson are calculated by means
of this procedure, which is invariant under ge and scale transformati
ons. The results coincide with Delta K and Delta Q values obtained in
proper-time regular ization. The W-boson contribution to Delta K is eq
ual to the absolute value of the Callan-Symanzik beta function-that is
, the anomaly-free magnetic moment of the W boson is found.
