This paper reviews developments in the utilisation of wind energy in E
urope over the past decade, and examines the current status of the tec
hnology, its implementation and the growing industry in the sector. It
further considers the potential that wind energy has to contribute to
wards our future energy supplies, its cost in comparison to other conv
entional forms of generation, environmental benefits and environmental
and other issues which may prevent this potential from being fully re
alised.
