Abstract
The past year has witnessed progress in identifying late steps in exoc ytosis that are so short-lived as to be difficult to study biochemical ly. Recent studies have also revealed a novel and surprisingly fast me chanism of endocytosis that may be triggered by a rise in the intracel lular concentration of Ca2+ and that retrieves exocytosed membrane in seconds.
