Ma. Diazgarcia et al., 3RD-ORDER NONLINEAR-OPTICAL SUSCEPTIBILITIES OF THE LANGMUIR-BLODGETT-FILMS OF OCTA-SUBSTITUTED METALLOPHTHALOCYANINES, Applied physics letters, 69(3), 1996, pp. 293-295
The third-order susceptibilities chi((3))(-3 omega:omega,omega,omega)
of Langmuir-Blodgett films of a series of octasubstituted metallophtha
locyanines have been measured by third-harmonic generation experiments
at 1.064 and 1.904 mu m. For the latter excitation wavelength a marke
d enhancement of the nonlinearity for the cobalt-containing compound h
as been found, and chi((3)) values are one order of magnitude larger t
han for the other systems. The effect has been associated to the role
of two-photon allowed metal (possibly d-d) transitions in the cobalt d
erivative. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
