This paper presents results of a simulation study of complex dynamic p
henomena in arrays composed of interacting chaotic circuits. Such arra
ys can be thought of as a new paradigm for modelling non-linear phenom
ena in spatially extended (high-dimensional or infinite-dimensional) s
ystems and active media with potential applications in signal processi
ng. Depending on the connection structure between the cells, the array
can show disorganized hyperchaotic behaviour or spatially ordered cha
otic waves, Patterns of behaviour depending on the excitation of the a
rray and the connection structure are studied in this paper. Chua circ
uits are taken as standard chaotic cells.
