On the basis of the results of xi(2230) --> pi(+)pi(-), <p(p)over bar>
and <K(K)over bar>, measured by the BES Collaboration in radiative J/
psi decays, combined with the upper limit of Br(xi --> <p(p)over right
arrow>)Br(xi --> <K(K)over bar>), measured by the PS185 experiment, w
e argue that the distinctive properties of xi(2230), the flavor-symmet
ric decays and the narrow partial decay widths to pi pi and <K(K)over
bar> as well as its copious production in radiative J/psi decay, show
the evidence for a glueball.
