CE3CU3SB4 - THE FIRST CE-BASED SEMICONDUCTING FERROMAGNET

We report here experimental investigations on Ce3Cu3Sb4 and Gd3Cu3Sb4 which are members of a new series reported by us. Ce3Cu3Sb4 is found t o be a semiconducting ferromagnet with T-m = 10K and hence unique as n o other Ce-based system exhibits these properties. The isostructural G d3Cu3Sb4 is a metallic antiferromagnet with T-N = 12K. The ferromagnet ic ordering temperature T-m of Ce3Cu3Sb4 is rather high and could be d ue to p - f hybridization.
