Structure parameters of Ca2Sr2Cu3GaO9 prepared at 6 GPa and 1250 degre
es C were refined with neutron powder diffraction data on the basis of
Ima2, Imcm and P2(1)ab space groups. In its structure, (GaO33-)(infin
ity) chains consisting of GaO4 tetrahedra form Sr2GaO3 blocks, which a
lternate with (Ca)(2)(CuO2)(3) sheets. Imcm gave the best approximatio
n to the actual superstructure due to alternate alignment of two (GaO3
3-)(infinity) chains with different orientation of GaO4 tetrahedra.
