We studied transport properties of the new metallic cuptates La(6)BaLn
Cu(8)O(20) (Ln:lanthanide) and their Sr-substituted materials La(6-x)S
r(x)BaLnCu(8)O(20). These cuprates are metallic at room temperature an
d show a slight increase in resistivity at low temperatures without su
perconductivity. ?The temperature dependence of the thermoelectric pow
er can be understood within a conventional theory for metals. The Hall
coefficient is negative and shows a strong temperature dependence as
in high-temperature superconductors. The doping dependence of the Hall
coefficient suggests the presence of both hole and electron bands in
this system. Characteristics of transport coefficients in La(6)BaLnCu(
8)O(20) are discussed in the light of high-temperature superconductors
.
