D. Dartois et al., IDENTIFICATION AND INFORMATION OF PATIENTS TRANSFUSED FROM 1980 TO 1985 IN CENTER-ALEXIS-VAUTRIN, Transfusion clinique et biologique, 3(2), 1996, pp. 125-131
In 1993, in Centre Alexis Vautrin, we took quite easily the census of
3,170 patients transfused between 1980 and 1985. In our institution, t
he systematic long-term follow-up of patients treated allowed to selec
t rapidly the patients alive and to ask family doctors to inform and p
ropose screening tests for a possible contamination by HIV and HCV vir
uses. Out of 802 patients alive, 703 accepted the tests. No contaminat
ion by the AIDS virus was detected. Conversely, the survey evidenced p
ositive serology for the virus of Hepatitis C in 16 cases (2.4 %).
