Abstract
Reduced Stokes parameters of the 2 P-2 state of lithium are measured u sing superelastic electron-scattering techniques and calculated using the convergent close-coupling method. The measurements and calculation s are in excellent agreement at all scattering angles. This is particu larly significant at the large scattering angles where there has been a long-standing discrepancy between theory and electron-photon coincid ence measurements in the corresponding electron-hydrogen scattering pr oblem.
