Abstract
The conversion of a commercial dye laser into a narrow-linewidth laser system, tunable over a large frequency range, is described. Its exper imental details as well as its application to high resolution laser sp ectroscopy in molecular beams are reported. The laser linewidth in dif ferent configurations was determined. The major advantages of the syst em described include its low cost and simplicity in construction and p erformance. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
