Abstract
The molecular weight distribution, the nature of sulfide bonds, the su bstitution mode in aromatic rings, and other characteristics of oligom eric polycondensation products of phenol with sulfur in the alkaline m edium were studied. The structure and principal properties of the phen ol-sulfide oligomers are closely analogous to those of the novolac-typ e phenol-formaldehyde resins.
