Kg. Banuprakash et al., HETEROSIS OBSERVED IN THE HYBRIDS BETWEEN SOME IMPROVED MULTIVOLTINESAND BIVOLTINES OF BOMBYX-MORI L, Insect science and its application, 15(3), 1994, pp. 313-321
Heterobeltiosis (relative to better parental variety) and standard het
erosis (relative to standard variety) for 10 larval and cocoon quantit
ative traits among the hybrids between five multivotine and three bivo
ltine strains of silkworm, Bombyx mori L., were estimated. The results
indicated that the hybrids between multivoltine females and bivoltine
males gave higher heterosis than their reciprocals. Variance due to g
eneral and specific combining ability and the genetic components were
also estimated. The role of gene actions governing the different trait
s studied is discussed.
