J. Maletz, THE LOWER ORDOVICIAN GRAPTOLITES DIDYMOGRAPTUS-BALTICUS TULLBERG AND DIDYMOGRAPTUS-PROTOBALTICUS MONSEN, Norsk geologisk tidsskrift, 76(2), 1996, pp. 107-114
The biostratigraphically important didymograptid graptolites Didymogra
ptus balticus Tullberg and Didymograptus protobalticus Monsen are rede
scribed using type specimens, as well as newly discovered material fro
m Scandinavia. It is concluded that D. balticus is a rare species. Its
age is shown to be restricted to the early Bendigonian (Be 1-2). Its
range overlaps considerably with that of the closely related but more
long-ranging and common D. protobalticus.
