Abstract
We present detail analyses of a model of three-dimensional impact frac ture process based on a competitive process of fragments. The model au tomatically creates a power-law fragment mass distribution without any tuning parameters. The exponent of the distribution shows very good a greement with the results in experiments of impact fragmentation. The universality of the distribution and a dimension analysis for the dist ribution based on the theorem of stable distribution are discussed.
