Abstract
Toxicity of eighteen strains isolated from cyanobacterial blooms colle cted in western France and two strains from culture collection was inv estigated. A biotest based on sensitivity of brine shrimp Artemia sali na larvae was developed and compared to mouse bioassay, the reference test for detection of cyanobacterial toxins. From the strains collecte d on the field, six were hepatotoxic to mice. A good similarity betwee n A. salina test and mouse test was shown.
