N. Eljouhari et al., PHOTOLUMINESCENCE OF CE3+, TB3+, AND MN2+ IN CLASSES OF BASE COMPOSITION LAMGB5O10, Journal of solid state chemistry, 123(2), 1996, pp. 398-407
The photoluminescence of Ce3+, Tb3+, and Mn2+ ions was studied in glas
ses of base composition LaMgB5O10. An NMR spectroscopy investigation p
roved the close arrangement of the boron oxygen network in both crysta
lline and vitreous phases. Ce3+ occupies two families of sites and act
s in codoped glasses as a donor in the processes of the Tb3+ and Mn2luminescences, A detailed analysis of the Ce3+ --> Mn2+ energy transfe
r evidences the increasing influence of the exchange mechanism as the
Mn2+ acceptor concentration increases, Finally the combined luminescen
ces of the three activators under a unique UV excitation allows the ob
servation of white light. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
