Abstract
Curing of oriental lacquer consists of two processes: a) the phenol di merization by the enzyme laccase and b) the autoxidative polymerizatio n of the unsaturated side chains in common urushiol and for all drying oils. The mechanism of the oxidative curing and stabilization was inv estigated based on molecular model studies.
