THE INFLUENCE FROM FOREIGN-COUNTRIES TO T HE DEVELOPMENT OF THE LIBRARY-SCIENCE OF CHINA - A STATISTICAL-ANALYSIS ON TRANSLATION LITERATUREOF LIBRARY-SCIENCE

The purpose of this paper is to present the influence from foreign cou ntries to the development of the library science of China with a stati stical method. The characteristics of the development of the library s cience of China were discussed, and the translation literature on libr ary science of foreign countries was analyzed chronologically by the c ontents and the nations of the original literature. Four indexes, whic h cover the literature on the library science of China from 1901 to 19 92 were used in the study. The conclusion are as flollows: 1) The infl uence of the foreign library science was affected distinctly by the po litical and social situation of China. 2) The literature of America, S oviet, Japan, England, German are most frequently translated into Chin ese, 3) The influence from the foreign countries varied on characteris tics in different period. 4) The influence from different countries va ried in different field. 5) The influence on different field varied in different period.
