Single-crystalline Fe(15 ML)/V (1-12 ML) superlattices, epitaxially gr
own in the (001) direction, have been investigated using magnetization
and electrical transport measurements. For all V thicknesses the syst
em exhibits ferromagnetic properties. Results from magnetization and h
ysteresis measurements with the field applied in different directions
confirm that the superlattice is well defined, the interface roughness
is small, and the crystallinity of the samples is good A clear influe
nce of the V thickness, due to strain effects, on the in-plane magneti
c anisotropy is found. Resistivity measurements show that the samples
exhibit anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) properties with a strong de
pendence of the V thickness on the magnitude of the AMR.
