Excess volumes and speeds of sound for the binary systems 2-propyn-1-o
l + 1,2-dichloroethane, + 1,1,1-trichloroethane, + 1,1,2,2-tetrachloro
ethane, and + trichloroethylene have been measured at 303.15 K. The da
ta were used to calculate isentropic compressibilities. The excess vol
umes for all the mixtures were found to be positive. The positive exce
ss volumes and positive deviation in isentropic compressibilities have
been attributed to the dissociation of self-associated alcohols with
chloroalkanes or chloroalkene.
