Abstract
The generation and cyclization of several heterocyclic radicals were i nvestigated. The hydrogen abstraction from 1,3-dithiane, 1,3-dithiolan e, and 1,3-oxathiane rings by a benzophenone triplet generated the cor responding heterocyclic radicals, which gave the cyclized products by intramolecular addition to alpha,beta-unsaturated esters. Diastereosel ective radical cyclization using chiral acetals was also investigated. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
