An integrated spectrometric scintillation detection unit, based on gad
olinium silicate single crystals, is described which is characterized
by high selective sensitivity with respect to gamma-radiation from Ame
ricium-241. The device allows small amounts of this radionuclide to be
distinguished against the gamma-emission background from other radion
uclides.
