Abstract
A relationship between telomere shortening and ageing has been establi shed. A series of young and elderly healthy donors, Alzheimer disease patients, young and old Down's syndrome individuals were cytogenetical ly analyzed. No preferential damage in distal bands was seen in age-re lated chromosome instability.
