Abstract
An improved synthesis of some 4,6-diaryl-3,4-dihydro-2(1H)-pyridones ( 2a-c) has been reported. Study of spectral data and theoretical calcul ations reveal that these molecules are stabilised in keto-form with ha lf-chair conformation.
