Abstract
A simple method is described for the preparation of 3-alkyl-2-thioxo-4 (3H)-quinazolinones (2) by the reaction of ring substituted anthranili c acids and ammonium or sodium N-alkyl-dithiocarbamates in ethanol. A plausible reaction mechanism is suggested for the formation of product s.
