The oxidative behavior of clozapine was studied as a function of PH at
a glassy carbon electrode activated by applying a new pretreatment. T
he oxidation process was shown to be irreversible. The characteristics
of the corresponding electrode reaction were discussed. A voltammetri
c method was developed at pH 4.5 (acetate buffer) for the quantitative
determination of clozapine. The peak current was linear with the cloz
apine concentration in the range 2 10(-6) M-8 10(-4) M. The method was
applied to the assay of clozapine tablets.
