Abstract
We find a transformation of the field operators which casts the Hamilt onian of the Luttinger model into a quadratic form. The transformed fi eld operators satisfy interesting commutation relations, fermion anti- commutation relations between the same kinds of fields and anyon-like commutation relations between different kinds. Using the transformatio n, Bethe ansatz wavefunctions are constructed algebraically. In additi on, an infinite number of conserved quantities are given.
