Abstract
We report the case of a 39-year-old female with severe Goodpasture's s yndrome, staghorn calculus, and subacute thyroiditis. Despite the use of a combined therapy with corticosteroid, cyclophosphamide, azathiopr ine and plasma exchange, we were unable to suppress the disease activi ty or normalize the anti-glomerular basement membrane (GEM) antibody l evels. Disease remission with a parallel reduction in anti-GEM antibod y titer was only achieved after sequential bilateral nephrectomy.
