Orthotopic liver transplantation, a well-accepted treatment for end-st
age liver disease and for many metabolic disorders, currently achieves
better than 85% long-term survival in children, Imaging has a large p
art in evaluating the transplant candidate preoperatively and in the p
ostoperative follow-up of the recipient. Vascular and biliary complica
tions, biopsies, and drainage procedures draw heavily upon the interven
tionalist's skills. We survey for the radiologist the still-evolving a
rena of liver transplantation and imaging's place in it.
