Dj. Wilson et al., IMPROVEMENT IN MILK-PRODUCTION AND UDDER HEALTH FOLLOWING CORRECTION OF STRAY VOLTAGE ON COMPUTER FEEDERS, Agri-Practice, 17(5-6), 1996, pp. 24-29
Diagnosis and correction of stray voltage on farms is important, as wa
s shown here on a 130-cow Holstein dairy farm which had installed comp
uterized grain feeders in 1986. This may be especially true when cows
can choose to avoid the source of shocks, and this choice affects prod
uction. Major production and disease losses in dairy cattle were stron
gly associated with stray voltage, and improvement followed its elimin
ation on the farm in this study.
