Abstract
Kinetic characteristics were examined for natural metalloproteinases [ EC 3.4.24.4] from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and B. brevis and chimeri c enzymes obtained through homologous recombination between the ''pare ntal'' genes. The analysis revealed a new region in the amino acid seq uence that influenced the catalytic activity.
