For Kogut-Susskind fermions, the lattice results by the Columbia group
are shown to be in good agreement with the spectral distribution foll
owing from a cubic equation to a chiral matrix model, both for the val
ence quark distribution and the anomalous symmetry breaking. We explic
itly construct Dirac spectra for Wilson fermions at finite temperature
, and use their end-point singularities to derive analytically the per
tinent critical lines. The Dirac spectral distributions reflect on loc
alized states with competitive effects between the quark Compton wavel
ength and the thermal wavelength. These effects can be checked in latt
ice simulations.
