Heat transfer experiments were performed in the post-CHF two-phase flo
w regime in a vertical tube. The tube inside diameter was 7.75 mm, and
the boiling fluid was R-113. The experiments were performed at steady
stale by means of liquid heating of the test tube. Wall superheats we
re maintained below 70 degrees C for heat exchanger/steam generator ap
plication. The mass flux range of the data was 379-816 kg m(-2) s(-1).
The use of R-113 significantly extended the property range of the exi
sting low wall-superheat data base. Experimental data are presented in
tabular as well as graphical form, and the results were used with low
wall-superheat data from other fluids to add generality to a predicti
ve heat transfer correlation.
