A. Tejero et al., CAMPYLOBACTER-JEJUNI IN 2 GROUPS OF HENS AND STUDY OF ANTIMICROBIAL SUSCEPTIBILITY, Archivos de medicina veterinaria, 28(1), 1996, pp. 155-157
Campylobacter jejuni is a leading agent of diarrhoea being poultry one
of its most important reservoirs. Bearing in mind the relationship be
tween poultry and infection, the prevalence of C. jejuni was determine
d in hens from domestic farms and from one industrial farm. C. jejuni
was isolated in 58.7% and 22.4%, respectively (p < 0.001). Furthermore
MIC(50) and MIC(90) to 11 antimicrobial drugs were determined, being
the strains isolated from the industrial farm more sensitive than thos
e isolated from domestic farms. Strains isolated from both groups of h
ens were resistant to azthreonam (MIC greater than or equal to 128 mu
g/ml).
