R. Kramell et al., RESOLUTION OF RACEMIC JASMONIC ACID AND ABSCISIC-ACID BY CHIRAL HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY, Phytochemical analysis, 7(4), 1996, pp. 209-212
The direct resolution of racemic jasmonic acid (JA) and abscisic acid
(ABA), as the free acids, into the corresponding enantiomers by high p
erformance liquid chromatography on a Nucleodex beta-PM column is repo
rted. The resolution factors (R(sJA)=1.38; R(sABA)=1.65) were such tha
t the method could be applied to the separation of these racemates on
a preparative scale. The racemates of methyl jasmonate and its 12-hydr
oxy-derivative could be resolved as their respective methyl esters. Th
e pure isomers obtained were characterized using circular dichroism an
d optical rotatory dispersion.
