Tr. Ophel, A HISTORY OF ACCELERATORS IN AUSTRALIA, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 382(1-2), 1996, pp. 20-31
Over a period of almost sixty years, a surprisingly diverse range of a
ccelerator activity has occurred. The earliest involved the electrosta
tic machines constructed at the University of Melbourne between 1938 a
nd 1950. The most ambitious project undertaken, a 10.6 GeV proton sync
hrotron at Canberra, was never completed. These and other developments
in laboratories through the country will be reviewed.
