U. Wolfradt et al., EAST-WEST DIFFERENCES AMONG ADOLESCENTS W ITH REGARD TO THE LEVEL OF DIFFERENT CLINICAL-PSYCHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF PERSONALITY, Verhaltenstherapie, 6(2), 1996, pp. 88-93
The present study recorded the clinical-psychological levels of depres
sive, neurotic and schizotypal features among 529 grammar school pupil
s, aged 14 to 17 years, from East and West Germany. It was found that
girls reported depressive and anxiety-related experiences to a larger
extent than boys. In general a higher clinical level of depression and
anxiety for East-German adolescents in comparison to the West-German
adolescents from Frankfurt/Main was observed. A cluster analysis found
more West-German girls with exclusively high levels of schizotypy tha
n East-German girls. The results are discussed on the background of th
e differences of social conditions and requirements of socialization b
etween the adolescents in East and West Germany.
