The role of mutant plastom, nucleus, and nucleus-plastom interaction i
n manifestation of the heterosis effect for morphophysiological traits
was studied in sunflower hybrids. A high level and frequency of heter
osis were mainly determined by mutation differences in plastoms of the
parental lines crossed. In a set of hybrids, nuclear genes and intera
ction between nucleus and plastom played the main role in development
of heterosis.
