M. Salvati et L. Cervoni, ASSOCIATION OF BREAST-CARCINOMA AND MENINGIOMA - REPORT OF 9 NEW CASES AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Tumori, 82(5), 1996, pp. 491-493
Nine patients with diagnosed breast cancer who developed meningiomas a
re reported. Articles suggesting that an association of these two tumo
rs is possible. Some authors have noted hormonal sensivity and the pre
sence of hormonal receptors in some meningiomas. Since breast cancer i
s the most common tumor in women, an association between it and mening
iomas might be fortuitous. However, it is important to fully investiga
te brain lesions in patients with breast cancer so that potentially cu
rable meningiomas are not considered as metastases.
