Abstract
The first high-resolution (0.002 cm(-1)) infrared spectra of the react ive molecule thionylimide, HNSO, are reported. The nu(3) (NS stretchin g) and nu(5) (NSO bending) fundamentals at 1086 and 448 cm(-1), respec tively, have been analyzed in detail. The ground state rotational cons tants have been substantially improved by a simultaneous fitting of pr eviously reported microwave data and a large number of infrared combin ation differences. The excited vibrational state constants of both typ e A/B hybrid bands have been obtained from fitting assignments over a wide range of J and K-a values. No perturbations were detected in eith er band. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
