We report here preliminary investigation of the effect of hydrogen abs
orption on superconductivity in the borocarbide superconductors YNi2B2
C. Our experiments show that hydrogen is absorbed to a low molar conce
ntration of similar to 0.2 and that hydrogen has no significant effect
on the lattice parameter and superconducting transition temperature.
These results are the first report on effect of hydrogen in quaternary
borocarbides.
