SALTICIDAE OF THE PACIFIC ISLANDS .1. DISTRIBUTION OF 12 GENERA, WITHDESCRIPTIONS OF 18 NEW SPECIES

Pacific salticids of the genera Athamas, Bianor, Efate, Ergane, Euophr ys, Evarcha, Holoplatys, Myrmarachne, Omoedus, Palpelius, Phintella, a nd Zenodorus are discussed. Eighteen new species are described: Bianor obak, Bianor vitiensis, Efate fimbriatus, Efate raptor, Ergane carina ta, Euophrys wanyan, Euophrys kororensis, Euophrys bryophila, Evarcha reiskindi, Holoplatys carolinensis, Myrmarachne edentata, Myrmarachne pisarskii, Myrmarachne edwardsi, Omoedus cordatus, Palpelius namosi, P alpelius trigyrus, Phintella planiceps, and Zenodorus ponapensis. Illu strations and distribution records are presented for all new species. In the widespread species Athamas whitmeei, morphological variation on several islands is illustrated. Efate albobicinctus and Zenodorus mic rophthalmus are illustrated for comparison with newly described specie s.
