Tv. Krutova et al., ESTIMATE OF THE EFFICIENCY OF THE SYNTHET IC ANTIOXIDANT DIBUNOL IN CHEMOTHERAPY OF EXPERIMENTAL-TUMORS, Izvestia Akademii nauk SSSR. Seria biologiceskaa, (3), 1996, pp. 369-373
We studied the therapeutic efficiency of the synthetic antioxidant Dib
unol alone and in combination with cytostatic drugs on animals with ex
perimental tumors after simultaneous and successive administration. In
troduction of Dibunol to animals (tumor carriers) soon after the trans
plantation of tumor cells had adverse consequences, stimulated tumor g
rowth and reduced the life span of animals. Dibunol exerted a therapeu
tic effect only in cases of developed tumors. Simultaneous introductio
n of cytostatic drugs (cyclophosphamide, dimethylnitrosourea, ADEKO) a
nd Dibunol to tumor carriers was efficient and increased the mean life
span of animals. The antitumor effect of the cyclophosphamide-Dibunol
combination did not, in practice, depend on the interval between intr
oductions of these drugs. However, the mean life span and survival of
animals were somewhat higher the intervals between introductions or si
multaneous application of the drugs were short.
